Renewal, auto-renewal and cancelling a server

Servers are paid month by month. Here is what happens around the end of each paid period, and how to stop a server cleanly when you no longer need it.

The renewal timeline

  • 7 days before the paid period ends, a renewal invoice appears in your account and you get an email with a link.
  • 3 days before and 1 day before, if it's still unpaid, you get a reminder.
  • On the last day, an unpaid server is stopped. Nothing is deleted yet.
  • 5 days later, if the invoice is still unpaid, the server is deleted together with all its data.

Those five days are a safety net, not a grace period to rely on. Pay during them and the server starts again with everything in place. After that there is nothing left to restore: we don't keep copies of deleted servers.

Auto-renewal from the balance

In the "Plan and renewal" block on the server's page there's an "Auto-renewal from balance" switch, and it's on by default. When a renewal invoice appears and your balance covers it, it's paid automatically. Keep a month or two on the balance (top it up on the "Balance" tab) and you can forget about renewals.

Turn it off if you'd rather decide on each payment yourself. Invoices will still be issued, they'll just wait for you.

Cancelling

If you no longer need the server, use "Request cancellation" on its page. A reason is optional, but it genuinely helps. The server keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for, and no new invoices are issued. After that date it's deleted along with the data.

Changed your mind? Until the end date the page shows a "Keep the service" button, and one click withdraws the cancellation.

Before cancelling, copy off anything you need. Databases, configs, keys: once the server is deleted, they're gone for good.
